PMP Exam

Yesterday I had the PMP Exam.
Well, after thousands hours of study I had to prove I was able to try it. I confess I was really worried about it because I had heard some people saying how hard it is or the percentage of people who pass at first try.

I had the exam at Alumni Prometric Sao Paulo. It was scheduled to begin at 9:00 and I was supposed to be there at 8:30. I got there at 8:20.

There were about 3 people to do the exam at same time. A monitor asked us to put our belongs in the appropriate place (everything). I asked her if I could take my bottle of Gatorade and she repeated "Let everything there and take only a document".

Then she called us one-by-one. I was the second to be announced "Robinson, you can enter".
We have to sign an entry register and then she shows which cabin is set to start the exam.
You have 15 minutes to do the tutorial and to learn how the system works. Basically there are some buttons like: PREVIOUS, NEXT, MARK, REVIEW and PORTUGUESE (if you've chosen this bilingual feature). I took no more than 5 minutes.

After that you start the exam (4 hours - there's a clock showing how much is remaining). I can tell I was still nervous and I started reading the questions in portuguese when I realized I would lost time doing this and I decided to go on in english.

In my opinion it was more difficult than I was waiting for. So, if you want to try it, you MUST study. I suggest to memorize as much as you can instead of try to understand everything because 4 hours run fast.

When you finish you wait a couple of minutes, answer a survey (oh my goodness) and then... wait another couple of minutes for the result..... ....

CONGRATULATIONS!!! YOU PASSED!
IN THE NEXT 6 WEEKS YOU'LL RECEIVE THE CERTIFICATE PROVIDED BY PMI BLA BLA BLA

I couldn't believe...

ah, only to register... I was really killing for a lavatory...

That's it... I got it.
I want also to register that I'm glad to my wife's patience and for every time she had to change her plans for mines.

PMP - Project Management Professional

Probably I will have to brake this subject in several posts...

PMP is a certificate provide by PMI (Project Management Institute - www.pmi.org) recognized in whole world. It allows you to be seen as a specialist who knows a methodology and best practices of project management.
To get this certificate it's necessary to complete some requisites:
- at least 3 years of experience in project management.
- at least 4.500 hours of experience in project management best practices (process, knowledge areas, deliverables).
- at least 30 hours of preparation.

To get more detail visit the official web site.

On the next post I will describe how to study for it (at least my way to study).

Red friday

From now on I'll write all the posts in english (I'll explain this better after).
Well.. Last friday I had an event a little bit different but before to tell in details I have to put some information to make it clear:
1) The place where I work (or I pass most of my time LOL) will sponsor The Cup "Libertadores da América" and they have hired Pelé for advertising.
2) They planned an event to 200 people only to participate in a chat with Pelé.
3) There was a test to choice those people and I was one of them.
So, last friday I participated in this event...
I can say I'm not a fan but it was very interesting to see him so close. Moreover, the conversation was very informal in spite of the fact the directors were there too.
He told a little bit about his life, his career, he talked about the sponsorship ("partnership") and he answered some questions.
To sum up, he is not a "normal" man definitely, he's a legend and everybody is responsible to put him where he is. Of course he was a reference while he played soccer but what's necessary to do to be famous and keep this title for years? I really don't know.

Saldo negativo...

IELTS - here we go

Finally last monday I scheduled my exam for IELTS and it's going to be on April, 12th.
I decided to try to write down this post in english to practice a little bit the composition part (I'm very bad at all).
Today I talked to my wife in english and I think the speaking part is much better than last year. Probably my listening is better after my travel to Toronto and New York.
My objective is to reach at least 7 in the four parts and my preparation to the test includes a package of 10 private classes with a native teacher. Moreover I'm planning to study by myself focusing in listening and writting.
I'll try to post short messages here during this journey.

Sorry for this simple post with a poor vocabulary, but I'll post more elaborate messages as soon as possible.

Atropelado.. A costela saiu pelas orelhas!

Fizemos quase tudo certinho.
